Dear colleagues radio amateurs!
I am addressing you as a member of managing committee of Radio Club Slovenj Gradec S59DCD and elected contest manager. I would like to introduce to you our project and provide some promotional material and kindly ask for you help in promotion.
Our project is a brand new World Wide HF contest. We dedicated it to a noble idea of PEACE MESSENGER CITY association, which was founded within organization of United Nations. We named our project World Wide Peace Messenger City Contest WWPMC.
Please, find attached short introduction of our club, introduction of IAPMC, and an explanation of PMC contest idea. We do heartily hope that you will find our idea interesting and persuasive in the way, that you will get your hands on mikes and keyers and joins us on the air.
We would like to kindly ask you for help in spreading the news about our new contest among radio amateurs in your district and your country by publishing this article in any possible way (printed publications, web sites, internet forums, discussion groups, mailing lists etc.) We hope we will meet amid a large concourse of contesters.
We are looking forward to meet you and your fellows' radio amateurs in WWPMC contest.

About us
Radio club Slovenj Gradec with its call sign S59DCD (ex YU3DCD) was established in 1974. About long lasting and rich history of our club we could write for hours, but that is not our intention. What we would like is to make a short and to the point introduction of project, initiated and started by members of our club.
Idea was born quite some time ago and now, after almost one year of hard work, it is time to introduce it wide in amateur radio public. It is brand new World Wide contest, named PMC contest. It is based on idea, promoted by International Association of Peace messenger cities.
IAPMC what is it?
IAPMC is an abbreviation for International Association of Peace Messenger Cities. Definition and basic idea of association quoted from Wikipedia, free online encyclopedia: United Nations Peace Messenger Cities are cities around the world that have volunteered for an initiative sponsored by the United Nations to promote peace and understanding between nations.
The movement began in the international year of Peace, 1986, when 62 cities were chosen from among thousands. Representatives of these 62 cities met on 7th and 8th September 1988 at Verdun, to participate: "In the building of a world less violent and more humane, a world of tolerant and of mutual respect to enable the requirements of peace based on justice and human rights to be better understood.
The International Association of Peace Messenger Cities was established in 1988 and now administers the program according to the statute of the Association and criteria for membership. Member cities of the Association meet twice a year with the aim of exchanging programs, ideas and experience in cities around the globe. Their website,

Symbolism explanation
Years ago we took a section of our completely homemade parabolic dish antenna with diameter of 6,2m as our logotype, as we are pioneers of EME activities in our country on 23cm and 13cm bands, and also antenna took a lot of our effort to built. White doves, worldwide known as symbol of peace, are also used as symbol in association of PEACE MESSENGER CITIES in United Nations organization. We joint our section of parabolic dish antenna as our logotype with white doves as symbols of peace – 6 white doves, as one of them for each HF band used in contest that we are announcing.

Idea of PMC contest
Idea of PMC contest was born quite some time ago also based on bygone activities. In the past we already organized activities dedicated to denotation of activities of United Nations. For example we would like to expose following major activities with short descriptions:
Activities at 40th anniversary of UN in year 1985, which was called: »We for peace«, special call signs were activated: 4N3OZN and YT0UN. For this occasion also personal operators in our club acquired special call signs with 4N3 prefix. A special diploma, also named “We for peace” was granted.
At 45th anniversary of UN in year 1990 followed special activities again. Year 1990 was called: »To be«. Again special call signs were activated: 4N9UN and YT0UN. Also for this occasion, personal operators in our club acquired special call signs. A special diploma, also named “To be” was granted.
In each of mentioned activities, according to logbooks, there were between 30000 and 35000 QSOs established with stations using special call signs.
Beside quoted, our city is not only a member, but it plays active and important role in association from its early beginning, since 1989. Today we are proud and honored that our mayor Mr. Matjaž Zanoškar is Secretary General of IAPMC.
All these, and above all, a noble idea of International association of peace messenger cities, founded by United Nations organization, inspired us to organize our own and brand new contest. Since we were aware of great pretension which such project means, we took a lot of time for preparations.
During very systematical and consistent preparations, our idea was ripening and developing and now it is time to introduce it wide in amateur radio public. Members of radio club Slovenj Gradec - S59DCD proudly announces a World Wide PEACE MESSENGER CITY CONTEST, or shortly, PMC contest.

For accomplishment of this contest with all necessary support, we acquired a programmer, who contacted on our behalf Thomas F. Wagner – N1MM, who is author of widespread and very popular contest log software. The result is, that our contest is added into contests selection in N1MM Logger, which can be found and downloaded on:

Note:
Development phase of logging program is completed. Presently, final testing is performed. When testing will be finished, program will be published on authors’ website. From there it is possible to download it for free and install it on computer.
PMC reference database:
Database is a part of logger. When new members will be accepted in IAPMC, database will be updated. We will notify about updates and any other changes on our website. You can also examine PMC reference list in PCM reference list section.
Results
Logs should be sent in Cabrillo format within 30 days period after contest is finished.

2. WHEN - 1200UTC Saturday to 1200 UTC Sunday, every first weekend of February.
3. BANDS AND MODES - 1.8, 3.5, 7, 14, 21 and 28MHz, CW and SSB. IARU band plans should be observed.

5. EXCHANGE Send RS (T) and serial number starting from 001, plus PMC reference if applicable (PMC stations MUST include the reference as part of their exchange). Do not use separate numbering systems for CW and SSB. Stations may be contacted on both CW and SSB on each band. 5.1 LIST OF PMC

6. SCORING
6.1 QSO Points
There are four possible relations between stations foreseen: QSO between NONPMC station and NONPMC station, QSO between PMC station and NONPMC station, QSO between stations from direrent PMC reference, and QSO between stations within the same PMC reference. Depending on relation, different number of points is delivered.
NONPMC – NONPMC (QSO between NONPMC station and NONPMC station) Each station receive 5 points for QSO
PMC – NONPMC (QSO between PMC station and NONPMC station) PMC station receive 5 points for QSO, while NONPMC station receive 25 points for QSO.
PMC X – PMC Y (QSO between stations from direrent PMC reference) Each station receives 10 points for QSO (X and Y stands for three letter abbreviation of PMC reference).
PMC X – PMC X (QSO between stations within the same PMC reference) Each station receives 5 points(X stands for three letter abbreviation of PMC reference).

6.2 Multiplier The multiplier is the total of different PMC references contacted on each band on CW, plus the total of different PMC references contacted on each band on SSB. Each PMC reference counts only once for each band and each mode worked.
